As we’ve all heard before, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Well, Krispy Kreme wasn’t precisely what they meant, though occasionally we indulge and kick start our day with a sugar rush. Krispy Kreme is back in the news, unveiling a new doughnut that aims to celebrate its 82nd birthday. That’s right, for 82 years Krispy Kreme has been serving up hot, delicious doughnuts for our eating pleasures, but now they’ve got something special up their sleeve. Krispy Kreme will be releasing special limited-time-only birthday doughnuts beginning July 15th.
The Winston-Salem-based bakery is creating something unique that uses their traditional dough as a base before adding birthday cake batter and dipping it in strawberry icing. The whole concoction is then topped by sprinkles, completing the sweet, sugary treat, offering a unique and fitting way to celebrate 82 years of doughnuts. The dollar doughnuts will be available until July 19th. However, on the final day of the promotion, Krispy Kreme will allow customers to buy a dozen traditional glazed doughnuts for just $1 USD with the purchase of any dozen other treats.
Krispy Kreme marketing chief Dave Skena stated: “Krispy Kreme fans love to celebrate our birthday. They really make it their party, which is good with us. We’re continuing our birthday tradition of the $1 dozen deal, which is great. But this year for the first time we are filling an Original Glazed doughnut with birthday cake batter … and that’s even better.” Take a closer look at the birthday doughnut in the image up top and be sure to celebrate the sweetness!
