The Concept of Speed | 1996 Ford Indigo Concept

We have an affinity for unique automobiles. From the classics to new rides, and everything in between, we are drawn to speed. The good folks over at Ford have a long history in the automotive industry. Through the years, they’ve put together some amazing rides and some concept cars that never hit the road. Today we get a look at one such creation, one that is up for sale. The 1996 Ford Indigo Concept is a futuristic-looking machine that blends race car design with streetcar details.

The Indigo was an incredibly powerful, open-wheel design with a massive bladed front end and a huge wing to create downforce. The ride is also host to these dramatic swan doors, adding to its charm and appeal in the process. Only three of these beasts were ever created, and only one had an engine. The ride features a massive 435-horsepower V12. The other two didn’t have engines and were sold to private parties nearly two decades ago. This bad boy is currently up for sale in Detroit, and it’s only been put on display. The ride is in pristine condition and can take on a new powertrain and drivetrain, and it also has the original tires and seatbelts.

Take a closer look at this 1996 Ford Indigo in the images below and learn more about the ride right here, right now. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more new cars, concepts, and more coming soon.
