Updates x Upgrades | Spotify Gets Siri Support

For fans and users of Spotify, one feature we’ve all been longing for is Siri support. Well, according to The Verge, that will all change with the latest iOS 13.1 updates. The new feature is currently in beta testing, though it allows iPhone users to directly use Siri to play songs from different albums and playlists on Spotify. The feature was added as part of Apple’s latest iOS 13 update.

The move also puts Spotify on equal footing with Apple Music in terms of Siri support. The new feature appears to work with AirPods too, allowing users to say “Hey Siri” and then instruct her to play whatever they desire. The new voice function still has a few shortcomings. Asking Siri to play Spotify podcasts can be problematic, due to the feature defaulting to searching for music. Since there is no dedicated Spotify app for the Apple Watch, the feature will not work. There is no official word from Spotify yet about a release date for the new feature, though sources suggest it could be arriving in the coming weeks.

This is certainly big news and one we will be putting to the test soon! Keep it locked here to The Culture Curators for more from the tech world, including updates and upgrades coming soon.
