Power & Performance | Mercedes-AMG Unveils The GT Black Series

The good folks over at Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG know a thing about power and performance. Today AMG is back in the news, finally pulling back the curtain on the most powerful V8 AMG ever built. Today we get our first look at the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series. The new ride features two upgrades that take this vehicle to a whole new level.

The revamped V8 engine is host to a bevy of updates that cranks up the power. The engine boasts a new flat-plane crankshaft similar to those in a Ferrari, along with new camshafts, larger intercoolers, and bigger turbo compressors. All of that, along with an improved exhaust system, results in 720 horsepower between 6,700 and 6,900 rpm, not to mention 590 pound-feet of torque from 2,000 to 6,000 rpm. In terms of speed, the vehicle boasts a top speed of 202 mph with a 0 to 60 mph time of just 3.1 seconds.

However, the engine is only the half of it. The ride features a massive grille inspired by the GT3 race cars, while the front splitter can be manually adjusted to an extended “race” setting. There are also vents in both on the hood and above the fenders provide more cooling for the engine and extra downforce. The rear wing electrically adjusts according to what driving mode you’re in; however, you can also control it independently. With all of these new features, the GT Black Series can generate 882 pounds of downforce at speeds of 155 mph.

Take a closer look at this incredible vehicle in the images below and head over to Mercedes-AMG to immediately find out more. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more new rides coming very soon.
