Colorful Creations | Robert Nava Unveils His “Vs” Exhibition

The incredibly talented Robert Nava has been quite busy as of late. His art is in Jeffrey Deitch Gallery’s “Punch” exhibition in LA. However, he’s also worked on a graphic collaboration with Heron Preston. Now Robert Nava returns, subject of a solo exhibition at the famed Night Gallery in Los Angeles. The exhibition is entitled “Vs,” and it includes new original paintings by the Brooklyn-based artist.

The artist’s unruly depictions of mythical creatures and imaginative robots are on full display. The works come from a wide range of materials, including acrylic, oil stick, and graphite pencils. Colorful, unique, and eye-catching, Nava’s designs are undoubtedly compelling, yet beautiful. The Night Gallery released a statement regarding the exhibition. It reads: “These deceptively simple works, with their unexpectedly complex colors and intuitively minimal forms, slowly reveal Nava’s virtuosity and rigorous labor.”

The statement goes on to say, “The paintings come to present the artist facing off against the limits of his own imagination, grappling with the energy of each of his creatures.” Intricate, deep and somewhat dark, the displays are captivating and quite brilliant, to say the least.

The exhibition had an opening reception held this July 20th. But now it is on display at the Night Gallery until August 17th. Take a closer look at some of Robert Nava’s “Vs” artwork in the images below. Be sure to visit the Night Gallery’s website for much more information. Stay tuned for more from the art world coming soon.
