This Summer, the craze was all about the chicken sandwich. Popeyes changed the game, adding a famous chicken sandwich to the menu while creating a viral campaign in the process. The sandwich nearly started a war in the culinary game, but the sandwich has been gone since August. Popeyes announced then that they had sold out of the chicken sandwich, “for now.” However, they never gave any indication of its return.
Well, recently, Popeyes started sending out targeted Instagram ads that read: “The sandwich is coming soon.” The good folks over at Thrillist did some digging and aimed to give us a little more information on when the sandwich will return. The outlet contacted different Popeyes locations in four cities to see if the employees had any information. A location in Brooklyn said, “Hopefully this week,” while a Southern California store said, “Probably Wednesday”. A Houston shop said, “Sometime next month,” and a Chicago location said, “About two more weeks”. According to reports, the company is preparing for the sandwich’s big return by hiring an additional 400 staff members. While a definite date hasn’t been pinned down, it certainly has us hyped about the weeks ahead.
