Flying Futuristic | The DeLorean Hovercraft

Look, we’re all still awaiting flying cars and hoverboards, but today we get a look at the next best thing. Today we get a look at something Doc Brown would be incredibly proud of; a DeLorean Hovercraft. Yes, you are reading that right, a DeLorean Hovercraft. How? Well, this ride was entirely custom-built, rocking a replicated look while offering a unique way to get from point a to point b. The DeLorean body is crafted from styrofoam wrapped in fiberglass, which was then coated in metallic paint.

This helps to keep the weight down while recreating the car’s iconic looks. Power comes from a 23hp Briggs & Stratton riding mower-style engine, which powers the 36″ thrust fan. A second B&S push mower engine powers the 24″ lift fan. This means that the craft can hover 6-8 inches over nearly any flat surface, and can hit speeds up to 31 mph on the water in good conditions. The ride recently received a new translucent hover skirt, which helps add to the “flying car” illusion. The ride has also been outfitted with new wiring, a new battery, new rudders, and a new engine cover.

For those that are interested, it even arrives with a matching trailer and a clean California boat title. Take a look at this creative craft in the images below and find out more about the DeLorean Hovercraft from Bring A Trailer.
