Future Forms | Google Hardware’s Exhibition Integrates Tech & Design

The good folks over at Google are getting into the world of hardware design. Ivy Ross leads Google Hardware’s Design Studio, and now they are currently showing off their first exhibition. The showcase is on display in Tokyo, titled “COMMA,” as part of Designart Tokyo 2019. Trend forecaster Li Edelkoort curated the exhibition. The point of the space is to effortlessly showcase Google’s latest product offerings alongside contemporary design pieces typically found in the home.

The exhibition aims to inspire viewers to pause for a moment and consider the beauty of the design. It also provides a look at how technology can seamlessly be integrated with traditional design objects. The main section of the exhibition features various environments anchored by custom wall hangings designed by Dutch interior architects INAMATT. These textile backdrops are made from fragments of antique linens. Each wall hanging sets the tone for the objects displayed below. Google products on display include the new Google Nest products and even the Google Pixel 4.

Each product is accompanied by objects like colorful chairs, mixed-material kitchenware, and more. In another area, Google’s design products are seen on a wall, which allows visitors to test them out for themselves. “COMMA” is currently on view until October 27th at Tokyo-based gallery 21_21 Design Sight.

Take a look at the exhibition in the images below and head over to the gallery’s website for more information right now. In the meantime, stay tuned to The Culture Curators for more from the world of tech and design coming soon.
