The good folks over Land Rover are back! After teasing the all-new Defender, the automaker has officially unveiled the Defender 2020. This modern reinterpretation of its iconic 70-year-old 4×4 off-roader is something special. The Defender is a true icon and probably the most legendary off-road vehicle in the world. Known for its distinctive design and its capabilities, the Defender has quite a reputation. The 2020 iteration is just as distinctive, though rocking a modern aesthetic that might throw you off a bit.
Land Rover put the new Defender through the Extreme Event Test procedure. This hardcore testing standard goes above and beyond to test the machine under all circumstances. The ride comes with an array of technological features and unique attention to detail throughout. The Defender 2020 comes with a configurable terrain response system, a twin-speed transfer box, locking center differentials, and an active rear locking differential. Aside from its off-road abilities, the Defender takes on a more family-friendly approach. The ride is available in either a 300 BHP or 400 BHP engine, incorporating tech such as a -inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Trim options include packs such as “Urban,” “Country,” “Adventure,” and “Explorer.”
