The evolution of speed has been something worth watching. Technology is playing a significant role in the incredible numbers that automotive manufacturers are putting up. We haven’t seen a battle of power this intense since the American muscle cars of the 1960s. 500 horsepower was once a big deal, but these days 800 horsepower is quite attainable and hardly worth mentioning. The Slovenian manufacturer Tushek will raise the bar with their new TS 900 Apex coupe. The car is a follow up to their first release, the 450 horsepower Renovatio T500 which arrived in 2012.
The Tushek TS 900 Apex is a hybrid machine that produces 950 horsepower and 1,032 lb-ft of torque! A twin-turbo V8 drives the rear wheels, paired with an electric motor for each front wheel. This powerful trio provides incredible power and some staggering numbers. The trifecta of power sits within the lightest chassis for a hybrid hypercar, weighing in at just 3,100 pounds. Tushek claims a 0-62 mph time of just 2.5 seconds with a top speed of 236 mph.
This is undoubtedly a step forward for horsepower once again, though it’s specs and timing isn’t unheard of in today’s best sports cars.
