Don’t call him a DJ. Just Joel isn’t a DJ; he’s a damn musical madman. Personally, when we think of DJs these days, we think of top 40 hits, popular hits from the past few years, and a few solid selections. While there is nothing wrong with those particular picks, it’s refreshing to hear something different. Just Joel brings something different, a new vibe with a refreshing approach. Which is exactly what he brings in his latest mix, “La Musique.”
Just Joel took his musical musings to La Cuisine in Ocala, Florida, this Friday for the first-ever ‘Porch Session’ event. To say it was a vibe would be a drastic understatement. This man brought his a-game and did so with a nearly two-hour mix of underrated gems. Just Joel dives deep, opting to stay away from the pop culture-induced sounds that invade our airwaves on a day to day basis. After serving up a few hours of incredible vibes and often overlooked tracks, Just Joel is here with his new mix, “La Musique.”
The mix includes an array of incredible material encompassing the past, the present, and diving into the future of music. The mix is draped in a cloak of catchy vibes. Including an array of impressive singles such as Chet Faker’s “1998,” “Instant Crush,” from Daft Punk, and Radiohead’s “Reckoner,” and more. Joel also takes us deeper with classics like Paul Simon’s “Call Me Al,” “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac, and others. This two-hour curation of sound was recorded live during his ‘Porch Session’ event. Which certainly brought a new vibe to the city.
“La Musique” can be streamed below, and it’s one worth your attention. Press play, kick back, get up, move and keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more from Just Joel coming soon.
