Nas – ‘The Lost Tapes 2’

Back in 2002, shortly after unleashing his album ‘Stillmatic,’ Nas served up a collection of unreleased material dubbed ‘The Lost Tapes.’ Sixteen years after the originally planned sequel, the Queensbridge native returns with ‘The Lost Tapes 2.’ Once again Nas serves up something lyrically solid, infectious and impressive.

‘The Lost Tapes 2’ comes equipped with sixteen tracks, comprised of leftovers and unreleased material from his albums Hip-Hop Is Dead (2006), Untitled (2008), Life Is Good (2012) and Nasir (2018). The project includes a barrage of impressive guest features, including the likes of Pete Rock, RZA, Pharrell, Swizz Beatz, Alchemist, Kanye West, Statik Selektah, Hit-Boy, DJ Dahi, DJ Toomp, No I.D. and a few others. Nas always brings something lyrically profound, and ‘The Lost Tapes 2’ is no different.

The wordsmith delivers his uncanny and undeniable talents behind the mic, getting a range of impressive instrumentals produced by the likes of Pharrell, RZA, Hit-Boy, DJ Dahi and DJ Khalil, Pete Rock and many more. Standouts include “Vernon Family” with Pharrell, “Who Are You” with David Ranier, “The Art Of It” featuring J Myers, “Queens Bridge Politics” and many more. Nas serves up something special, effortlessly doing his thing along the way.
