Eminem is the proud owner of a new NFT. The wordsmith recently shelled out $450,000 USD in order to purchase a Bored Ape NFT that resembles himself. The “EminApe” NFT was sold by BAYC member GeeGazza for 123.45 ETh, or roughly $425,000 USD, on Thursday night.
The BAYC member had been hoping that the rapper would purchase it from him, posting about the topic on Twitter back in November. GeeGazza stated: “I still think @Eminem is destined to buy my @BoredApeYC one day.” The sale was secured by digital agency Six, which had previously worked with other celebrities in the NFT industry.
Their past clients include the Wu-Tang Clan, Tycho, and Galantis. This isn’t Eminem’s first venture into the world of NFT’s, as the MC currently owns 15 NFTs on OpenSea under the name “Shady Holdings.” GeeGazza posted, “I’m living in a simulation. Thank you @Eminem for buying my ape and joining the club! Madness. Let me write a lyric in your next single” following the sale.
