Art In AR | Damien Hirst & Snapchat Reveal Spin Painting Collaboration

The good folks over at Snapchat are getting creative. They have teamed up with Damien Hirst on a new lens inspired by the acclaimed British artist’s Spin Paintings. The new filter is available globally, showcasing the creativity of both the artist and the app. The filter allows users to virtually create their own spin paintings without the mess or material. Mr. Hirst released a statement regarding the filter.

It reads: “It’s amazing to be working with Snapchat on this totally mega spin art lens and making it possible for millions of people to make their own spin paintings right from their phones. I’m so happy that this partnership also supports Partners in Health, a brilliant and forward-thinking organization that helps communities in developing countries around the world cope with the devastating impact of COVID-19.” The artist first began his foray into spin art back in 1992. He went on to develop his first series of Spin Paintings in 1994 while living in Berlin. Snapchat has also partnered with Partners in Health on the lens to support their COVID-19 relief efforts.
