Art On The Beach! Saint Laurent & Sho Shibuya Present ‘55 Sunrises’ At Art Basel

The graphic designer, Sho Shibuya, is back in the news. His artwork blends collage work with unique brushstrokes, being seen on the front page of The New York Times. The New York-based designer has linked up with Saint Laurent for a special exhibition at Art Basel. Saint Laurent has commissioned 55 of his Sunrise from a Small Window paintings, which are on view in an ethereal gallery space on the sands of Miami Beach.

The sunrise is the show’s center while offering a unique way to capture the transition the world seeks. The New York-based designer told Vogue that the art was a way to maintain “some kind of sanity in the beginning of the pandemic.” He added he continues to create them now as a mission to “preserve everyday moments.” Shibuya’s 55 Sunrises is also an homage of sorts to the 55th anniversary of the Saint Laurent’s Rive Gauche boutique opening in Paris.

The exhibition will be on view from sunrise to sunset from November 30th to December 5th. Check out the images for a closer look, but make sure to check out the exhibit for yourself if you’re down South. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more from the world of art and more from Art Basel coming very soon.
