Blood Orange – ‘Angel’s Pulse’

Dev Hynes, a.k.a. Blood Orange is back. Last year he dropped off one of the most incredible and impressive albums called ‘Negro Swan,’ now he returns with a proper follow-up to the project called ‘Angel’s Pulse.’ This insatiable new project comes loaded up with fourteen new tracks, including several outstanding and notable features.

‘Angel’s Pulse’ finds Mr. Hynes linking up with the likes of Toro y Moi, Project Pat, Gangsta Boo, Tinashe, Justine Syke and a few others, serving up something smooth, compelling, refreshing and impressive; to say the least. Standouts like “Something to Do,” “Good For You” with Justin Skye, and “Happiness” are just a start. Other exceptional offers include “Birmingham” with Kelsey Lu and Ian Isiah, “Gold Teeth” with Project Pat, Gangsta Boo and Tinashe, and “Berlin” featuring Porsches and Ian Isiah.

Dev delivers something special and he also recently opened up about the mixtape. He stated: “My new record is called ‘Angel’s Pulse,’ and I performed, produced and mixed the entire thing myself,” adding “I’m calling it a mixtape. I have a habit through the years of making records that I just give to friends, or on tape to people on the street or no one. Usually, this material is made directly after the album I’ve just put out. Somewhat of an epilogue to the thing I’ve made before.” He continued, “I put as much work and care into it as I do with the albums I’ve released, but for some reason trained myself into not releasing things the rate at which I make them. I’m older now though, and life is unpredictable and terrifying… so here you go, mates.”

This is one I’d highly recommend adding to your listening rotation. Press play on Blood Orange’s new project ‘Angel’s Pulse’ in the stream below and stay tuned, much more great new music is on the way.
