Distorted Dimensions | Alex Lysakowski’s ‘Antistructure’ Photo Series

The Ontario-based Alex Lysakowski recently revealed a new photography series for our viewing enjoyment. Dubbed ‘Antistructure,’ the collection depicts a variety of surrealistic buildings and vehicles. The images feature distorted designs, including Tetris-like structures with intriguing turns and twists, expanded trucks, and much more.

The artist ventured to a number of locations around southern Ontario, snapping shots of otherwise inanimate subjects. The artist then digitally manipulated them, transforming these objects into absurd-looking architecture designs. Throughout ‘Antistructure’ we see everything from trucks with towering storage units and Tetris-like buildings. Lysakowski spoke about the collection, providing a little insight into how it all came together.

Lysakowski stated: “I wanted to add a level of stupidity and absurdity into my stabilized structural style of shooting; ‘Antistructure’ was born out of that. Things that could not be, or maybe should not be.” The artist added, “My process is a mixture of fascination with the boundary between reality and fiction, study and reconciliation of actions, relations and bonds of my past and general perseverance for technical and conceptual progress in my medium.” T

he images are eye-catching and compelling, certainly worth your time and effort. Take a closer look at ‘Antistructure’ in the photos below and then head over to Lysakowski’s website to view more projects.
