In case you didn’t know, we have quite a soft spot for modern architecture. While we’ve seen plenty of intriguing examples, we’ve seen nothing like the Merida House. The structure draws inspiration from Yucatan’s Mayan heritage, created by Ludwig Godefroy. This stunning Mexican retreat follows the boundaries of its narrow plot, forming a simple 80×8 meter footprint.
The structure adapts to its confines flawlessly, doing so with a central Sacbres that passes through the gardens and living spaces. The dwelling boasts a concrete facade that gives a temple-like aesthetic, further adding to its appeal and allure.
Inside we find a minimalist atmosphere, though with warm and welcoming vibes for an inviting feel. Wooden louvers and furniture contrast the cream and natural hues of the exposed cement. The property also features a vibrant blue swimming pool that resembles the sacred natural sinkholes known as cenotes.
Take a closer look at this beautiful modern home in the images below and find out more about the design from Ludwig Godefroy. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more modern architecture and design coming very soon.
