Common – ‘Let Love’

Chicago’s very own, Common is back! The wordsmith invades the interwebs today with a brand new album. Today the Chi-Town legend unleashes a new opus entitled ‘Let Love.’ his twelfth studio album. The project is his first since 2016’s Black America Again, and as expected, he doesn’t disappoint. Common has been doing this for a while, and he delivers another stellar example of his talents. The project comes loaded up with a barrage of new material, led by the singles “HER Love” and “Hercules.”

The project finds Common pairing up with the likes of Samora Pinderhughes, Daniel Caesar, Swizz Beatz and more. Leikeli47, BJ The Chicago Kid, A-Trak, Jill Scott, Leon Bridges, and Jonathan McReynolds also show out on the project. Common opened up about his new project recently. The wordsmith stated: “This album is inspired by the book Let Love Have the last Word, which gave me a path to write about things I had never written about before.” He then added, “It forced me to go deeper, and because I opened up about so many things in the book, I was charged to go to raw, personal and spiritual places in the music.”

Common also spoke about the production side of the album. He said, “Production-wise, I knew that the music had to have depth, soul, and dimension to it. I wanted the musicianship and the spirit of what live music brings, but it also had to have something raw and basement about it.”

Do yourself a favor and check out the new project, ‘Let Love,’ in the stream below and keep it locked here to The Culture Curators for more new music coming soon. Look for our favorites from ‘Let Love’ on ‘A Curation of Sound’ coming a little later today.
