Fast x Furious | Sprint’s 5G Network Arrives

It’s been a big couple of months for Sprint. Last month the Justice Department approved a massive merger with T-Mobile. Now the telecommunication giant has announced they’re ready to roll out phase 2 of their 5G network. A statement made early Tuesday by Sprint indicated that they would be launching 5G in 4 additional cities. New York City, Phoenix, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles are now running Sprint’s 5G Network. It will even easier to ignore people right next to you in the crowded city streets or figure out where all that desert water is coming from.

They join Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and Kansas City which were included in the Phase one rollout earlier this year. Sprint currently supports three 5G devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, LG V50 ThinQ, and the HTC 5g Hub hot spot, and has recently shared that it will be supporting the forthcoming Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G.

The smug laughter of the anti-iPhone crowd can already be heard in the cities listed. This means those cat videos we still can’t get enough of will be loading faster than ever, but even then maybe not as fast as other carriers. The range of Sprint’s network makes them a juggernaut in the 5G world, but the network could still be faster. Sprint‘s 5G Network doesn’t utilize mmWave technology, meaning speeds are still slower than the competition.

Fear not though, the new network is still far superior to the 4G of ancient times. It’s been a wild ride for those of us that remember the days of the pager and payphone, but there’s still so much to come.
