In 2024, humans are set to return to the surface of the Moon. In doing so, these adventurous souls will need a home to call their own in the vast unknown. SAGA Space Architects are here to help, aiming to colonize our satellite with their Lunark Moon Habitat. Sebastian Aristotelis and Karl-Johan Sørensen created these unique structures.
To test their designs, the duo is looking to put their dwellings to the test by placing them in the Earth’s most extreme environment; Northern Greenland. The Arctic region is unique, boasting long periods of sunlight, a vast landscape, and harsh temperatures below 30 degrees; much like the Moon. This will allow the team to get an authentic simulation of living on the Moon. The team will have the chance to check out the pod’s solar panel skin and zero waste ecosystem, as well as the ability to withstand wildlife and more. The mission is slated to start in April of 2024. With folks heading to new frontiers, the need for functional designs is very real.
