Future Forms | The NZ House

We, as humans, are looking for new and innovative ways to save the world. In doing so, eco-friendly designs have become quite popular as we look towards the future. The city of Phoenix is making an effort to become carbon neutral. In doing so, the city recently held a contest to design a near net-zero energy family home. Today we get a look at the winner of the competition, the NZ House.

Marlene Imirzian & Associates Architects designed the dwelling, and it comes inspired by 1950’s case study homes. The clean lines and mid-century modern exterior is clean and unique. The interior boasts 2,185-square-feet of space, rocking three-bedrooms and spacious living areas. To combat the desert temps, the design includes remarkable insulation and high-performance glass. A solar chimney and retractable window screens are also seen, all coming together to assist the home’s low energy rating. The plans will not cost you a dime, but the complete structure will cost around $344,000. This is certainly a look into the future of energy and modern lifestyle.

Take a closer look at the NZ House in the images below and learn more about the structure at Phoenix.gov right now. Keep it locked here with The Culture Curators for more modern architecture and design coming soon.
