Earlier this week we mentioned that award show season is right around the corner. After getting a look at the nominees for this years Golden Globes, today we get a look at the nominees for the 26th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The awards honor the best acting performances in both films and TV shows from the past year. What differentiates this award from others is that it is peer honored, with actors honoring fellow performers.
This years top nominee is Bombshell, Marriage Story and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with four nominations each. Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and Martin Scorsese’s Netflix original The Irishman have also been awarded nominations in various categories. Leonardo DiCaprio and Joaquin Phoenix are competing for Outstanding Male Actor, while Scarlett Johansson has been nominated for both Female Actor in a Leading Role and Supporting Role for her work in Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit.
Elsewhere Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is the only foreign film nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. As far as the small screen is concerned, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel brought home the most. Additionally, Robert De Niro will receive a Life Achievement Award during the event.
