Illusions In Architecture | The Loch Eight House

Modern architecture is captivating and inspiring. We’ve seen some intriguing contemporary designs lately, and today we get a look at another. Today we get a look at a unique structure that seems like an optical illusion. Unique, luxurious, and intricate, this one is known as the Loch Eight House. This impeccable dwelling is a gravity-defying design by Anthony Gibbon. Traditional floating homes and villages inspired this stunning home.

Constructed of stone and glass, the dwelling hovers over a glass lake. The tranquil appearance is created by two, flat concrete planes resting on the surface of the water. Stone walls prop up the slabs, while floor-to-ceiling glazing gives the structure a sense of weightlessness. The interior features a minimal yet modern aesthetic. The rooms are organized in an L-shape where accents of wood, concrete, and immersive views are seen. The home lets the natural surroundings in through the translucent facade, adding to the calming, minimalist atmosphere. The Loch Eight House will have you reconsidering everything you ever imagined your dream home to be.
