Outstanding architecture can be found on every corner of the globe. Today, we look at a stunning example that calls Port de la Selva in northern Spain home. The Port de la Selva House sits in a beautiful coastal town characterized by rocky shorelines made of volcanic matter. The structure was designed by Maria Castello Arquitectura, created to complement the environment.
The house includes dual concrete volumes embedded into the hillside. The two square forms extend toward the sea, cantilevering over the ground below. Both units are topped by gravel from the excavation process, further integrating the structure into the topography. The contours in the bedrock form outdoor patios that offer unrivaled views of the stunning scenery around it.
The inside of the Port de la Selva House features a palette of concrete and oak. The minimalist approach is bathed in natural light thanks to expansive walls of glazing, which also serve to highlight the expansive views of the coastal landscape. Spacious and welcoming, the home has a modern charm that is undeniable and eye-catching.
