On Display! Library Street Collective Presents “Asymmetry”

The good folks over at Library Street Collective are back in the news. Today they return with news of a new joint exhibition featuring the work of Robert Moreland and Jacqueline Surdell. The exhibition is entitled “Asymmetry,” offering a look at the synergy between two new bodies of work that appear radically different yet relate in complementary ways.

Surdell’s textiles are a fitting entrance to the exhibition, each crafted with a labor-intensive process, detailing the repetition, color, and shape. The Chicago-based artist looks at what can be created with a focus on formal elements. The pieces have a sacred and modern aesthetic, boasting detailed colors and lines that connect and disconnect.

Moreland takes a much different approach to shape and color. The flattened canvases are hand-made with leather hinges and metal tracks, adding a layer of mystery to his 3D compositions. When viewed together, an intriguing dialogue emerges between the two. “Asymmetry” is on view at Library Street Collective until May 4th, 2022.

Check out a few selections from the exhibition in the images and head over to Library Street Collective to find out more. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more from the world of art and design coming very soon.
