If you are anything like us here at The Culture Curators, you are a bit of a nerd for classic cars. There is something captivating and compelling about iconic automobiles from the past, and today, we get a look at a stunning classic that is set to hit the auction block soon.

The Ford GT40 was initially designed to beat Ferrari, plain and simple. The car became a legendary American race car, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans four years in a row. The 1965 Ford GT40 Roadster Prototype seen here is one of the first five roadsters built, and it could be yours. This is one of the most original and rarest examples of Ford’s iconic race car.

It has been meticulously cared for over the past two decades and is the eighth of 12 GT40 prototypes and the only known roadster that’s still in its original form. Some of the best drivers in the world drove this vehicle, including the likes of Carrol Shelby, Jim Clark, and Ken Miles.

First created to test and develop the GT40, Miles drove the vehicle at Riverside to prepare for the GT40’s first run at Le Mans. Check out this stunning piece of racing history in the image and head over to RM Sotheby’s to find out more about this iconic ride right now.
