Riding Into The Future | Volkswagen Reveals The e-BULLI Electric Microbus

The good folks over at Volkswagen are back, and they have their eyes on the future. Last July, Volkswagen revealed its first electric microbus concept. The ride is based on the Type 20 campervan, a beloved icon. Now VW returns with a blend of classic aesthetics and modern tech, creating the new e-BULLI prototype. This eye-catching new EV is a revamped T1 Samba Bus produced in Hannover, Germany.

VW replaced the original 32 kW four-cylinder boxer engine with its 61 kW electric motor. This provides two times the torque of the original, providing a top speed of around 80 mph. The vehicle is a rear-wheel-drive design with the battery located in the center of the car. This provides a lower center of gravity, improving handling and maneuvering in the process. The e-BULLI is also equipped with LED headlights, a retro speedometer with a two-digit display. The LED charge indicators on the back are a nice touch, while a tablet is found in the ceiling above the windshield. The company is looking to launch T1 conversions and fully-made T1 microbuses with pricing starting around $70,000 USD. Volkswagen was slated to debut the e-BULLI at Techno Classica 2020, but the convention was canceled; no thanks to coronavirus.

Take a look at the e-BULLI Electric Microbus in the images below and head over to Volkswagen to find out more immediately. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more new rides, concept cars and classics coming soon.
