As you know by now, we have an affinity for modern architecture and contemporary design. Today we take a look at the opposite end of the spectrum with the 1800s Catskill Mountain Lodge. This beautiful retreat has excellent potential. The Adirondack-style house was originally built in 1898 by a railroad executive. Initially designed to entertain family and guests, the home was constructed from local timber, fieldstone, and river rock.
Rustic and rural, the mountain lodge features an interior of wood-lined walls, massive stone fireplaces, and exposed timber framing. The chalet has received some upgrades to the roof, electric, and water tank; the property is looking for new owners. The space would make a perfect family getaway or even a charming bed and breakfast.
