Shine On ‘Em | Medicom Toy’s Golden BE@RBRICK For The Vienna Philharmonic

Following an exceptional collaboration with Royal Selangor, Medicom Toy is back at it again. This time around, the toy company has returned with another collaboration, linking up with the Vienna Philharmonic. The two have come together to celebrate the iconic institution, doing so with a shiny golden BE@RBRICK. The design even features the Wiener Philharmoniker emblem. The Vienna Philharmonic dates all the way back to 1842 and is considered one of the top orchestras in the world. The orchestra is based in Musikverein, Vienna, and boasts a stringent selection process.

Applicants must prove their skill level before the board for a minimum of three years before being considered for a position. As a nod to this, the Vienna Philharmonic, or Wiener Philharmoniker, was created in 1989 and is one of the best selling bullion coins out. The obverse side of the coin shows the historic pipe organ at the Wiener Musikverein concert hall, while “REPUBLIK ӦSTERREICH” is arched above.

The other side of the coin is seen on the back of the BE@RBRICK. It boasts a Vienna horn, bassoon, harp, cello, and four violins, finished off with the words “WIENER PHILHARMONIKER” above. Apart from the detailed designs stamped on the BE@RBRICK, the rest of the figure has been kept minimal. The Medicom Toy Vienna Philharmonic Golden BE@RBRICK will be available on November 15 at ginzatanaka.co.jp.

Take a closer look at this celebratory collaboration in the image up top and pick yours up asap. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more art and design coming soon.
