The High Life | Dawson Lake Tree Houses

When we think of tree houses, we think of our childhood. Who didn’t want a tree house when they were a kid? I know I certainly did. However, I got older, and that dream was left behind in my youthful years. Today we get a look at something unique that is sure to unleash your inner-child. The Dawson Lake Tree Houses are situated above Dawson Lake in West Virginia. Nicknamed “Wild and Wonderful,” the collection of sustainable cabins are a great place to escape reality.

Situated along a 40-foot lake surrounded by meadows, streams, and wetlands, these tree houses provide an elevated approach to escape modern life. The dwellings are nestled in the wooded hillside. They feature steep roofs and timber cladding, which pull influence from the neighboring fir and larch trees. The cabin’s interior is a minimalist refuge, offering ample space and an inviting appeal that is undeniable.

The space features a lounge area, a sleeping loft, and floor-to-ceiling glazing, which immerses guests in the rugged scenery. To respect the protected land, the structures are expected to meet the net-zero energy and environmental impact guidelines.

Take a closer look at these beautiful, modern tree houses in the images below and learn more about them from Peter Pichler Architecture. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more outstanding architecture coming soon.
