Transformed Into Luxury | DenPaku Beachfront Mijora Villas

Does anyone really need a good excuse to take a trip? We certainly don’t, but today we get a look at one. This unique seaside retreat started as a transformation project that expanded into something much more. The DenPaku Beachfront Mijora Villas are something unique, simple, yet stunning. Designed by Yasuhiro Yamashita of Atelier Tekuto, the villas are a result of his years of transforming villages of his native Amami Oshima.

The architect restored vacant structures to their original state, then expanded on the idea with luxury accommodations. The DenPaku Beachfront Mijora Villas are built on the coast of the Japanese island. The villas are situated on two separate plots for a total of 13 villas. The designs are a modern homage to traditional Amamian architecture. Each one features an origami-like approach that is composed of a concrete base topped with a folded, wooden roof. The inside features a minimalist aesthetic while a floor-to-ceiling window and a sheltered terrace provide coastal views. These villas provide the perfect place to get away from reality, offering a serene and modern aesthetic throughout.

Take a closer look at this beautiful modern retreat in the images below and find out more about the villas from Atelier Tekuto immediately. While you’re at it, be sure to keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more modern architecture coming soon.
