Modern Simplicity | Buhaus By Burdge AIA

Back in 2018, the Woolsey Fire devastated the Malibu area. Many residents were left without shelter, while local architect Doug Burdge and builder Nate Garnero devised a solution. Burdge AIA created a unique range of tiny temporary homes, converting shipping containers in the process. The Bauhaus-inspired shelters offer a sleek, fire-resistant facade crafted from aluminum panels.

The dwellings provide a 160-square-foot interior, boasting a clean, minimal aesthetic throughout. Details include a hidden murphy bed that includes a drop-down desk, a kitchen area, and recessed lighting. Doors fold open to uncover glazing, which creates covered outdoor spaces throughout. Both the interior and exterior finishes are customizable and can include off-grid systems. The Buhaus will be available for order in the spring of 2020.

Take a closer look at these eye-catching, minimal structures in the images below and find out more from Burdge AIA right now. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more modern architecture coming very soon.
