Not to be outdone by their competitors, Kentucky Fried Chicken is back with something new to kick-off 2021. Today KFC is back to introduce what it is calling its “best chicken sandwich ever.”
Andrea Zahumensky, chief marketing officer, KFC U.S., spoke about the sandwich recently. She stated: “We tested the new Chicken Sandwich in Orlando last spring, and we nearly doubled our sales expectations, so we knew that we had a winner.” She went on to add, “Many customers hadn’t considered KFC as a part of the chicken sandwich conversation, but anyone who tastes this sandwich will know, without a doubt, that we’re playing to win.”
The new KFC Chicken Sandwich comes made to order, boasting a quarter-pound, all-white meat, double-breaded, Extra Crispy™ chicken breast filet. The chicken is topped by thick pickles and the Colonel’s real mayo or spicy sauce, placed between a freshly-toasted buttery brioche bun.
Each ingredient was chosen through a process that included the chain’s food innovation team testing eight thickness variations of pickles and several bakeries on more than ten bun recipes.
While first tested in Orlando last spring, the new Chicken Sandwich is now available in select markets. However, a wider release at all 4,000 KFC restaurants is coming by the end of February.
