Art x Earth | Flaus Littman’s ‘FOR FOREST’ Installation

Art comes in all sorts of shapes, sizes, disciplines, and mediums. The Wörthersee football stadium in Klagenfurt, Austria is now home to the country’s largest public art installation. Klaus Littmann has created a unique and rather immersive installation dubbed ‘FOR FOREST’. More than a work of art, or just another unique installation, this exhibition is a look into the future.

The work is inspired by architect Max Peintner’s drawing, The Unending Attraction of Nature. The piece consists of around 300 trees which aim to “challenge our perception of nature and question its future”. The artist also aims to highlight the importance of nature to everyday life, posing the possibility of nature being accessible through highly controlled spaces. Enea Landscape Architecture is assisting with the install, which will be placed directly on top of the football pitch. Upon wrapping up the viewing period for the installation, the trees are slated for replanting at a site near the stadium in order to serve as a “forest sculpture.”

Take a closer look at this intriguing and compelling installation in the images below and find out more from Klaus Littman while you’re at it. ‘FOR FOREST’ is slated to open on September 9th and runs until October 27th, 2019.
