Legends of Speed | 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS Coupe

As you can probably tell by now, here at The Culture Curators, we appreciate anything that goes fast. The good folks over at Porsche are known for their impact of speed and their exceptional vehicles. Back in 1964, Porsche introduced two cars that would change the company forever. The legendary 911 made its debut, as well as the dual-purpose road/race car, the 904. The 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera was the first Porsche design to use fiberglass bodywork, which was bonded to a steel chassis.

Today we get a look at one of those early 904’s, a stunning 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS Coupe. This beautiful machine was sold new in 1964 to Italian industrialist and driver Ernesto Prinoth in classic silver metallic. The interior was draped in blue velour, though in 1968, the vehicle made its way to the United States. It was then owned by Leslie Gunnarson, who undertook a “California restoration,” painting the car red and making the interior more comfortable.

He held onto the car for over five decades, though now the vehicle is on the market. The car has its original engine and gearbox making it extremely rare. The vehicle is a beautiful example of Porsche’s legacy on the track and on the road, offering a true auto enthusiast something extraordinary in the process.

Take a closer look at this beautiful Porsche 904 Carrera in the images below and head over to Gooding & Co. to find out more immediately. In the meantime, be sure to keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more classic cars, new rides, and custom creations coming very soon.
