Living out our days by the water doesn’t sound like a bad way to live. The Metrick Cottage & Boathouse is located on the shore of Lake Joseph in Ontario. The home was designed to reflect its rugged surroundings. The main home is comprised of three gabled volumes, each boasting charred fir exteriors. The exposed joists and oversized eaves add character, which is topped with standing-seam metal roofs.
Expansive glazing provides unrivaled views of the lake and more, also providing a contemporary aesthetic. Each structure is separated by function. The main living areas are in the center, while the master bedroom and guest suite are found on either side. There is a stone ridge that adds privacy, angled to allow the central gathering pod unobstructed views of the water. The property also features an accompanying boathouse. The structure floats on the water’s surface, boasting three slips and incredible views.
