We all have a general idea of our own dream home. Today we get a look at a stunning retreat that started all the way back in 1987. It was then that a couple bought a piece of lakefront property with dreams of creating a family retreat. After 33 years, the dream finally became a reality. The family had built several projects on the property, including a bunkie, firepit, slacklines, bike trails, and a hammock zone.
To accommodate the new construction, they bought a neighboring lot. The cabin itself is built on steel ground screws that minimize the impact on the land and trees. The home’s blackened timber facade blends in with the forest scenery while the natural interior provides a warm and welcoming aesthetic throughout. The natural wood lining offers a bright, minimal atmosphere, while also providing modern camp-like vibes.
The bedrooms are found on the ground floor, while the living area has been placed on the upper level. This maximizes views of the lake and provides a bit of privacy in the process. The upper level also expands out to a covered terrace in the forest, while an open-air deck overlooks the water. This home is a beautiful example of modern architecture and design.
