While a rustic river basin in Montana isn’t where we’d expect to see modern architecture, it’s where we find it today. The Confluence House contrasts its surroundings, though providing quite a lavish living space in the process.
The home overlooks a river basin, interprets its rugged surroundings in a modern context. The dwelling sits on a clearing on a small hilltop, comprised of three buildings. There is the main home, a guest house, and a workshop. The three structures meet at a central courtyard, which is host to a cover terrace. This area offers stunning views of the scenery. The Rocky Mountains and dense forests surround the property.
The exterior complements the natural scenery with a timber and stone facade. The sleek, flat roof aims to mirror the prairie’s vast grasslands. The interior comes loaded with natural materials and plenty of glazing. This combination is warm and welcoming, providing unrivaled views of the basin and beyond. The home merges itself flawlessly with the scenery, creating a rather harmonious approach.
