The Takeover | “Old Town Road” Officially Ties for The Longest Time at No. 1

Lil Nas X has made himself at home at the top of the charts. The artist has now spent 16 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, which officially ties the longest time at the top spot.

Lil Nas X and “Old Town Road” join “Despacito” by Daddy Yankee, Luis Fonsi, and Justin Bieber, and the 1995 hit, “One Sweet Day” by Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey. At 13 weeks at No.1, the trap/country crossover hit broke the record for the longest-running hip-hop song, breaking Wiz Khalifa’s record that was set in 2015 “See You Again” with Charlie Puth. The Black Eyed Peas “Boom Boom Pow,” and Eminem‘s 2002 classic “Lose Yourself.” It’s been a busy year for Lil Nas X, who was also named by TIME magazine as one of the 25 most influential people on the internet for 2019.

He joined a list that includes the likes of Ariana Grande, Cardi B, and BTS. This is just the beginning for Lil Nas X, who recently dropped off his official debut EP, ‘7.’ Keep it locked for more music news coming soon and be sure to check out Lil Nas X‘s new EP if you haven’t already done so.
