If you have been checking with us here at The Culture Curators, you have probably noticed our fondness for unique architecture. Today we take a look at a beautiful dwelling located on the coast of Tasmania. Dubbed the Otago Bay House, the structure is designed in order to take full advantage of the surrounding scenery. The site is dramatic and rural, while the home seamlessly fits with the natural backdrop.
The house is comprised of two volumes that are stacked on top of one another while also slightly embedded in the terrain. The upper level boasts a sweeping roof while positioned to afford views of Mount Wellington to the west and Mount Direction to the east. The bedrooms are situated on the lower level, where large glass panes reveal views of the water below. The home’s exterior is contrasted by the sleek, modern interior. The home is a beautiful example of outstanding design and modern architecture, adorned with locally-sourced masonry, limed-oak ceiling, and polished concrete in soft, natural hues.
