Rustic Luxury | Casa Bodella by P+0 Arquitectura

Looking up at the Mexican mountainside from the valley below you might miss Casa Bodella, one of the most unique homes around. Two large “boxes” nestled into the mountain face sounds like a design you couldn’t miss, but the use of natural materials, existing trees, and clever positioning give the illusion this structure was born from the granite itself.

The “boxes” are arranged in a manner that creates an enclosed courtyard between the separated private and social compartments. Further utilizing the landscape and organic elements, natural air flow paths were incorporated in the structures for ventilation and climate control. Large windows throughout and courtyards made on the roof of the lower sections and connecting structure give breathtaking views of the mountain range from nearly anywhere on the property.

Inside, ceilings made of rustic locally sourced cedar bring a feeling of warmth to the stone and concrete interior. The only constraints to the plan are from the furniture situated around the interior. This open design allows the layout to change with the demands of the occupant. Couches, tables, beds, and exquisite tapestries create separation within for depth and privacy.  With a topography that many would consider troublesome, the team behind Casa Bedolla created a mountainside masterpiece so at home amongst the cedars and oaks that it may go unseen by most of its neighbors.

That may have been the point, but it will be a shame for anyone who misses it. Learn more about this outstanding modern structure from P+0 Arquitectura right now.
